Rev'd Nick Weldon
I am married to Jane and we have three children, Samuel (12), Emily (10) and Olivia (6). We have been living in North Tawton since the summer of 2011. Before we came here I was curate at St David's Moreton-in-Marsh in the Cotswolds. I studied for ordained ministry at Oak Hill Theological College in London and was a church youth worker at St James’ Gerrards Cross before that. I was brought up in a Christian family, and I nearly qualify as Devonian having lived in the county twice before. I love skiing, rugby, fast jets and curry – not necessarily in that order. I am licensed to minister in the whole Whiddon Mission Community, but with particular responsibility for St Peter’s North Tawton, St Andrew’s Sampford Courtenay, St James’ Bondleigh and St Mary’s Honeychurch. I was also the Rural Dean of the Okehampton Deanery from 2016 to 2020.
Assistant Minister - Rev'd Rita Bullworthy
I am married to Terry and we have three grown up children and four grand-children. We have lived in Sampford Courtenay for 14 years since we retired from running the family business. I was trained for ministry in SWMTC - the local diocesan training scheme for ministers. I feel my particular calling is to the diaconate - which amongst other things means serving on the fringes of the church with a particular calling to reach out to those who would not normally come to church.
Parish Worker - Wez Cutler
I am married to Kathy and we have a 2 year old daughter called Felicity. We live in Okehampton as it is a convenient middle ground for both our jobs. Before joining the team here I worked in the south end of the Whiddon Mission Community for 6 years in Chagford and the surrounding villages as a schools, children’s and families worker alongside my other job as a youth and community worker for the project On The Edge, also based in Chagford. I am originally from Exeter, so haven’t travelled far! I would probably refer to myself as a bit of geek – as I’m very much into boardgames, films and anything Star Wars, but have learned to embrace my quirkiness and so has Kathy! I’m also a big fan of football and table tennis, music and my all time passion, food!
As I start this role, I am very much looking forward to getting to know as many people as possible, in particular the children and teenagers within the church and wider community, as we look to show the love of Jesus to them and help them to grow in their understanding of him through new and fun initiatives.
